I am in a twee pop mood.
Some good twee poppers:
Cults. a two piece from NY
and Summer Camp. who are getting to be "a very big deal"
Talk To The Moose
6 months on and me and my sister CAN'T get over this gap advert. 0.21.... amazing.
Sea Serpents
excited about these guys. Going to see them in the Sanderson courtyards next week as part of the Sanderson Predicts series.
Kyla la Grange
This is really good, was dubious about the title, to be honest anything that cites anything vaguely blood sucker related in probably the next ten years is going to be slightly uncomfortable and immediately written off, but this, this is good.
ANOTHER YEAR GONE
Yeah so predictably Glastonbury took over my life. Ten best moments:
10. lissie covering bad romance
9. crushing on Jack White & Alison Mosshart even though their crowd were terrible.
8. Josh k-holeing midway through Stevie Wonder only to surge like a phoenix from the ashes as soon as Superstition began.
7. Michael 'tone-deaf' Eavis joining Stevie on stage for Happy Birthday.
6. The xx on the Park Stage.
5. snoop doggy daawwwwwwg "three things you got do every mornin..."
4. Florence singing the Chain. INSANE.
3. The ENTIRE scissor sisters set.
2. Singing Beatles songs with Emerick (coolest guy ever) seranading about 20 of us with his guitar skillzzz, about 6am on the steps of the dragon at the Stone Circle.
1. Shangri-La & Arcadia Saturday night. Drunken nutella times back at the tent.

I keep bleating (?) on about these guys to anyone that'll listen but IO Echo are playing shows in LA that I JUST CAN'T GO TO and it's beyond irritating. I mean, this looks like an amazing show at Space 1530 for IAmSound Records
also been listening to Smith Westerns, they're playing a couple of shows in London over the next couple of days but I can't really make any of them. Sometimes I really just wish that bands would do daytime shows (not like Ellen or Oprah, like being hungover at a festival, eating chinese food and catching the mid afternoon slots)
Me and Ems became obsessed with this song "Letters To The Sky" by Civil Twilight, due to the fact it was on Harper's Island, so we went to see them at Mondo Water Rats last night. Turns out they were amazing, as were their support band Company of Thieves. The lead singer of Company of Thieves was totally rad and gave us their CD for free.

Sky Ferreira's new single 'One'.
She & Him's cover of Fools Rush In, which you can download FREE here.
and the new Twilight soundtrack (Metric, Florence, The Dead Weather, SIA, etc...) which you can listen to for 24 hours here.
Timeless
Joni Mitchell is definitely one of the best songwriters we've had. This is from her third album, 1970's Ladies of the Canyon, which is one of my favourites. The last song is such a beautiful look at life, both sad and nostalgic and hopeful at the same time, acknowledging naivety in youth.
The Circle Game
Yesterday a child came out to wonder
Caught a dragonfly inside a jar
Fearful when the sky was full of thunder
And tearful at the falling of a star
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Then the child moved ten times round the seasons
Skated over ten clear frozen streams
Words like, when you're older, must appease him
And promises of someday make his dreams
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now
Cartwheels turn to car wheels thru the town
And they tell him,
Take your time, it won't be long now
Till you drag your feet just to slow the circles down
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game
So the years spin by and now the boy is twenty
Though his dreams have lost some grandeur coming true
There'll be new dreams, maybe better dreams and plenty
Before the last revolving year is through
And the seasons they go round and round
And the painted ponies go up and down
We're captive on the carousel of time
We can't return, we can only look behind
From where we came
And go round and round and round
In the circle game

Him & She
She & Him were amazing at Koko, mental setlist too, both albums, and they did great covers which allowed M Ward to do epic guitar solos, and Zooey's voice is a lot better than I thought it was actually.

Sky
I'm listening to this every couple of days, but I'm still not sure whether Sky Ferreira has actually delivered on the hype. Everything about this song just makes me want to scream 'yes we know you're only 17 and oh you're really scandalous aren't you? Yes, you're just going to shock everyone with your shocking behaviour.' When in reality, what 17 year olds aren't going to clubs and getting pissed all the time? Might have to file Sky along with the Peaches Geldofs and the Ke$has of the world, but I'm going to hold out hope and keep listening. When's the second single out?
